I WEAR WHAT I WANT: RED WHITE AND BLUE FOREVER

It's the 4th of July here in 'Merica, and I'm happily not grilling beef and drinking beer. I am, instead, drinking coffee and eating a kale salad in a cafe while I marvel at the free speech component of the internet and watch body love campaigns explode internationally. I'm a fan of today for a whole other reason.

I love mixing red white and blue because it's nostalgic. Because it reminds me seafaring men covered in ink. Because I somehow do it without trying. Because it's a nod to 30 other countries who's colors are also red white and blue. Because it's the next best color combination after red white and black. And because it looks really really good in stripes and polka dots.

Sadly, this entire outfit it thrifted, so I cant send you off in search of a copy. You can, however, enjoy these pictures of me in the golden afternoon light that accompanies monsoon season here in AZ. It's a rather sadistic weather season, torturing you with painful humidity in a state filled with swamp coolers... But nothing feels better than when it finally pours.  Here's hoping for rain today when everyone else wants it to stay dry for fireworks!

  3. Love that this outfit is thrifted and yet hate you for beating me to it. I am also a thrifting, plus size Tucsonan...what are your favorite shops here?

Monsoon season is a harsh mistress.

  12. Since I started reading your blog, as different and inspired as each of your posts are one central and vital theme screams at me every time. "CELEBRATE YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE MAGNIFICENT JUST AS YOU ARE!!!" Every time I feel a little less because of either outward or inward negative images, I read or re-read one of your blogs and I'm more determined than ever to change my outlook and anyone else's that I can. Thank you for being so raw and outspoken, you are effecting change every day, one blog at a time.

  13. I have been reading your blog for a while now and in every unique and inspired post you shine upon us, one central theme screams at me, "CELEBRATE YOU EVERY DAY BECAUSE YOU ARE MAGNIFICENT JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!!" Whenever I feel "less" because of either external or internal images, I read or re-read one of your posts and I'm reinforced with the knowledge that it isn't size but attitude and substance that makes someone sexy/attractive/desirable. Thank you for your raw and honest posts. Keep them coming, they say if you can change one person's life for the better then your's has meaning. Honey you change a multitude of attitudes daily. You are amazing!!!!
