AN OPEN LETTER TO EVERYONE IN PARTICULAR

So. Uhm...wow? The explosion of the article that has brought you all here by the hundreds of thousands has left me intimidated to try and write anything worthy of the "Publish" button. Luckily Liora had her wits about her and said "Well, then why don't you just write about that?"

So here I am. Scared to type another word, but I'm gonna do it anyways.

1.) Thank you. Thank you for your comments. Thank you for your replies. Thank you for your emails. Thank you for your compliments. Thank you for your overwhelming and powerful support. I've read every single thing sent to me, and I plan on replying to each and every one as well. I only have two hands, but I've recruited a few more... so be patient. I promise you'll hear from me before the world ends. But cross your fingers that last part never happens.

2.) I'm excited about opportunities, guys!  A New Zealand Podcast? xoJane articles? Magazine interviews? A naughty radio show in Las Vegas? Absofuckinglutely! Let the good word spread!

3.) Did you know that cats follow the perfect birth order? I have three and they fit it to a tee: the cantankerous older sister who is too cool to engage in any of the boys' hooliganisms (not a real word), the teenage boy who knocks over only the important housewares and causes more of a ruckus than the other two combined, and the fluffy easygoing baby brother who isn't the brightest crayon in the box but he don't care because he's goddamn cute and everyone knows it. They are the best company, and this is totally irrelevant.

4.) If you have questions, ask. I'm here for you pretty much all the time. I'll field whatever you throw, so try me.

5.) I hope you stick around. If there is anything I've internalized over the last couple of years it's the power of groups. Teams. Posses. Friend gangs. Whatever you want to call 'em, there is power in numbers. Share your comments, thoughts, confessions, suggestions, rants, raves, and general awesomeness with me. Lets collectively change the world as we know it.  And also, I'm going to be really brave and tackle some really difficult subjects soon, so there's that.

Stick with me kid, you'll be glad you did.

  2. I love seeing people like you out there fighting the good fight. I wish some of this had been around when I was young and felt inadequate to the task of just being me. Rock on.

  9. I am also a new reader due to pinterest and the "Things no one will tell..." pin.
Good for you for being so brave and being who you are. It sure is a hard task.
I will say, I thought about your blog this weekend as I sat in a booth, with my husband and ate pizza-- even though I am not blogging about the 25 things :)

  10. Started reading because the Things No One Will Tell post ended up on my pinterest (with your lovely picture), and then I thought it was so amazing I went to share it with a body positive group I'm in on Facebook, only to see that there were like four other links to your blog already there!

Though I've been planning it for a while now, your blog gave me the final push I needed to really start openly talking about HAES and size acceptance on my own blog. So thank you.

    2. Like so many others I have only recently found your blog after your 'things no one tells fat girls' article started appearing on my FB.

Can I just say that your blog is simply inspirational, full of so much positivity and determination. Today alone you've given two people I care about very much a massive much needed boost, so thank you for writing and sharing your ideas and experiences.

You are awesome and I will definitely be reading from now on. X

  12. Love you, love everything about you, want to be you! I am so glad I found your blog. I am a militant feminist and proud of it, and I wish more women wore that label proudly! I will argue until my last breath that society/culture teaches women to pursue an unattainable standard of beauty because when we are worried about the size of our thighs, we cannot harness our power to change the world. Just think of what women could accomplish if we all said fuck it, we can do better than this!

  15. Caught one of your articles from a link on facebook. I read the 25 things and was hooked. You are an inspiring young woman. I look forward to your many other posts!

Plus cats totally follow a birth order. I have three of my own. The older sister, the middle sister always vying for her place and the youngest who knows she's the cutest and doesn't care.

  16. Totally inspiring, plus I have 3 cats. Anyone who has cats must be a good person. :)

Look forward to more of your writing.

  17. Like so many others I've only recently wandered in, but I've pulled up a chair and am sitting tight for the rest of this awesome ride. I've struggled most of my life [and am still working hard] to like myself and find myself worthy of being liked by others. Your blog is so inspiring and I can't thank you enough for sharing it with us all.

  19. I'm a new follower as well and think you're an incredible inspiration! I will definitely be sticking around for more.
On the cat note, I only have one and I totally adore her. It sometimes seems as though I have two or three because she has multiple personalities!

  21. I've recently discovered this site and to say I love it is an understatement. You're such an inspiration!
I do have one question though, where do you get your clothes? The only places I can seem to find plus size clothes are at Lane Bryant and Old Navy, and while Old Navy is doing better, Lane Bryant tends to make me feel like I'm coming up on my 80th birthday.

  22. I've recently started reading your site and I find it to be such an inspiration! I do have one quick question though, where do you buy your clothes? I've only been able to find a decent selection of plus-size clothes at Old Navy and Lane Bryant. And while Old Navy is doing better, Lane Bryant's selection makes me feel like I'm coming up on my 80th birthday.

  24. Hello!

I am a new reader. My boss actually showed me your site saying, "Omg this totally sounds like you! Check it out!" Needless to say, I am known around the office as the feminist fattie who tries very hard to fight the good fight.

In response to number 4. and reiterating what others have already asked, could you possibly consider writing a big list of places to buy clothes? I know the old standards (Evans, Old Navy, Lane Bryant, ASOS etc) but I really want new plus sized dresses that appeal to me. It's hard to find anything that isn't dull. I want to be able to look cute and have been finding a few spots around the internet, but it'd be excellent to find a huge database of clothing finds online. Maybe a linkshare?
