INSATIABLE WANDERLUST

Sometimes, I read National Geographic and travel magazines and then I remember how full of color and culture our world is. Cue overwhelming and insatiable wanderlust. While it physically hurts my heart to know that there is so much to experience currently out of reach, it is comforting to know that I'm working towards a career that can take me all over the world. I hold onto this vision while trucking though day to day life. Here are some visual reminders to escape the ordinary... y'know, if you're into that kind of thing.

I remember visiting both England and Italy and thinking with each city we visited "I could live here"...  I won't ever turn down a chance to visit the new, but several places are at the top of my travel list: Sydney, Chicago, Seattle, Rome, Scotland, Dublin, French country, all of New Zealand... This really could go on forever. What are your top travel destinations?

  1. I SO appreciate that you have the Albuquerque balloon fiesta on here! I've traveled quite a bit, but the balloon fiesta is still one of my favorite things!

  3. I was lucky enough to go on holiday a lot with my grandparents as a kid so I've been around all the Mediterranean countries. However, I am desperate to visit Germany and Sweden. They're so close but I just never get round to it.

  4. You're right, it is impossible to even comprehend how much there is out there to see. Ireland is one of my top places, along with Italy and Iceland. So much to do!

  5. Cold weather islands, like the Faroe, the upper Hebrides, channel islands, Easter island, and Iceland!
P.s. your pictures are exactly like a bunch on my wanderlust board in Pinterest.... I just want to go EVERYWHERE.

  6. I have a totally unrelated-to-this-post comment to share (though this is a beautiful post as well!) A blog that I read posted a little bit about feminism today, and I pulled out the old Sociology books to be able to put in my own 2 cents, and it occurred to me that you might be interest in the books I pulled out--if you haven't heard of them already. They are "Men and Feminism" by Shira Tarrant and "He's a Stud, She's a Slut and 49 Other Double Standards Every Woman Should Know" by Jessica Valenti. I know it's random, but yeah, I just thought you might be interested : ]

And I really do love this post! I, too, hope to be able to travel the world at least a little bit one day, and it does hurt a bit that I can't do that right now. I have hope though! (I also love all your other posts too! I just never comment--but I really do read and enjoy them.) : ]

  8. I've had similar feelings lately. The blah of suburbia's been getting to me, and I just want to live somewhere with a culture - not just lacrosse sticks and Starbucks. Thank you for the beautiful images :)

  9. I'm going to dream about a holiday in the sun tonight. These photos are just so beautiful. I've always wanted to live in Canada and I'm super excited that I might be moving to France in the next few years, but I think I will always come back to Edinburgh eventually, I'm really lucky that I love where I live xo

  12. Breathtaking images, they certainly turned my wanderlust switch on. I was lucky enough to live in Italia when I was a kid, and it was amazing. I'd love to go back and take my fiance on a tour of my childhood home, the sunflower fields I'd get lost in and the brook I'd read by. Like I said, it was magical! I'd love to get married in India or Bangladesh or somewhere similar. Thanks for reminding me of how beautiful the world is.

  13. These places are all gorgeous! I would love to see any of them--I know the feeling of "it physically hurts my heart to know that there is so much to experience currently out of reach" SO WELL. I'm not sure if it'll ever be possible for me, but...I hope it will.

At the top of my travel list are Bali, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Australia, New Zealand, Japan (so much cuteness!), Croatia (I've seen some amazing pictures of Plitvice National Park there), Thailand, Mexico, Italy, France, and the US Southwest, especially Havasu Falls and Zion National Park. If I weren't so risk-averse, I'd put Iran on my list as well--everything I've read about it sounds amazing.
