NEW SERIES: THIS ONE THING I REALLY LOVE ABOUT MY BODY

Hooray for starting new collaborations with women I adore around the blogosphere! Which is all of you, duh.

"This One Thing I Really Love About My Body" is a no nonsense challenge for all of us to put our self admiration into words when it comes to something we never allow ourselves to talk about... body pride. Its a difficult task that counters everything we've learned, but I'm offering you a chance to thwart self hate and submit what you love about you. It could be a body part, it could be a physical attribute, it could be a strength... anything that comes to mind when you read the image above. I want your help on this, and I'm really excited to hear what you have to say! To start this off, I'll ramble for a second about... my rolls.

I'm serious.

I wanted to initially post about how perfectly shaped my ass is, but I'll leave that for someone else, and talk about something I never thought I could... the fact that I love my flab.

I think it started with the Body Image(s) project when I found myself entranced by the aesthetic beauty in other women's stomachs. Almost every single one, large and small alike, had plenty of folds when curled up or sitting and I just thought they were fucking gorgeous. I started taking pictures of every model's belly as time progressed, and then I started to notice mine. Sitting on the couch, looking at every soft ripple my skin made. I started running my fingers over them. Grabbing handfuls of them. Admiring the shapes they made and the romantic curves they created They are so rolley polley and FUN.

The more I pay attention to them, the more I love them, and this has been a revolutionary experience for me.

YAY ROLLS!
-----------------------

So here's the deal. I want your contribution. Even if it feels outside your comfort zone, try it! For each submission I'll need one image (obviously I showed skin, but you don't have to) and a paragraph or two. That's it. Easy peasy! Lets celebrate the body we've got and allow ourselves to fall in love with how unique it is. I cannot wait to hear about how beautiful you are! The email you can use is thekitschentruck@gmail.com. I know I need a new email name but I'm so fast at typing this one!

P.S."Baker Babes" is still a thing, and I have some interviews coming, so if you're interested in contributing to that please feel free to email me about that as well.

P.P.S. I'm still working on the 25 Things. Be patient;)

  3. I love this idea. I really love what a positive space your blog is re: body image and self-esteem. You are one truly lovely person. I'll definitely send a submission your way. Is there a particular deadline?

    1. There isn't a deadline:) Whenever you like. I'd love to post one a week, if it plays out the way I hope it will<3

I also love how you described stomach rolls... makes me think about the extra skin that drives me crazy a little differently.

  5. This is such a great idea...as always. I'm definitely going to work on a submission. It's been kind of a long time (way too long in fact) since I did a "body positive" post on my blog. This may just be the kickstart I need.

  6. I need to read this every day. I have always felt self-conscious about my rolls. I've always thought of them as grub-like, entirely unattractive, defects. And considering how many I have, I need to do more than ignore them...I need to embrace them, as you have. Thank you, for showing me how you did, and making me re-consider my own rolls.

  9. Ooh, I'll have to try submitting to this one. I'm hoping to get a new camera over the holidays and maybe I can get a decent photo of all this compact, 5'2"-ishness. I've never done a body positive submission for anything before and sometimes I really feel like I want to.

  12. I can't believe it. Someone else who gets that. All of that. Specifically every single pat of what you said.

The seemingly outrageous possibility that everyone is, or can be, beautiful, the fact that the relevant image all of us aspire to is manufactured and bullshit ...

Anywho, I just wanted to comment, to say how different I feel now as opposed to a few minutes ago before I read this.

    Cheers, Maz.

  14. I have no idea if this is still going on or not but I just saw this post about the things no one will say to a fat girl and it directed me here. I... honestly love your honesty. <3

  15. I am like Cristina^ I found your blog because My cousin pinned "things no one will say to a fat girl..." and after like 2 hours, I am still totally hooked on your blog. I would love to tell you about the one part of my body I really love but not sure if you are still taking submissions, if so please let me know.

  16. Just curious, what if you have a four or six pack?

    1. Why wouldn't you love your six pack? You're allowed to love all parts of your body. I happen to love this one.

  17. I love this little mole on the back of my neck. It's right under where my hairline ends and I have this one little baby curl that always frames it just so, and my brother and sister have similar mole in the exact sane place.
And for some odd reason it just reminds me of how similar my siblings and I are.
Not very many people notice it and my father suggested that I have it removed after having it for twenty years,
to which I laughed and said that I'd just tattoo it back.
It's not a very defining feature, and to some it's a blemish, but I don't care. It's my mole, the one that reminds me of family and is framed by my hair 'just so', and I love it.

  18. You are truly my inspiration because I never really loved my body and I could never lose the weight and being around people who either hates their body or just skinny so it had an effect on me but coming here made me realize that I should love and embrace myself just the way I am. So I wanted to thank you you are my inspiration now I'm going to cry because I haven't been happy and I just been so depressed so it means a lot to me so thank you. So I'm going to do this challenge just for my confidence and you.

  19. I am of the belief that everyone is beautiful and absolutely love this article! I actually happen to love my entire body, not just one part of it. Even though sometimes my knees look all knobbly to me and my toenails are just weird, I love my whole body. I'm trying desperately to convince other people that loving their body isn't vain.
I hope everyone else can learn to do that, too.
Again I just really love this post :)
