25 THINGS FAT PEOPLE SHOULDN'T DO: #2 WEAR A MUMU

25 Things Fat People Shouldn't Do is an unabashed middle finger to the preposterous idea that any human who weighs more than the status quo does not deserve to live a full and well rounded (ahem) life. The list of 25 is composed word for word from direct lists of sheer assholery found on the internet. These range from the absurd to the profoundly shameful, and I will be disproving this offensive notion with style. Feel free to join in on the fun, and if you do, post a link to your post at the bottom so I can share. May the Chub Club live long and prosper!

I have ALWAYS loved mumus. But I do have an unhealthy addiction to hideous 90's dresses... so this is sort of expected. I used to have a pile of mumus and belts that I would randomly pair for work every day. Now I wear a kitchen uniform to work, so the pile has disappeared... except for this one. I love this giant print of a dress the very most. From the stripes to the tied collar to the flowey sleeves... dream dress.

Its shocking how attractive the tent dress is, aint it? I'm pretty sure EVERYONE should wear mumus regardless of their size. I just might start building that collection again...
-----------------------------------

Your challenge: wear a mumu yourself! Anyone (no size exclusions!) can join in... just provide a link to your post below!

If you're an overachiever, you can also prepare for next Monday's 25 Things, which will be: "Make art of themselves". I'm really excited about this one, and already have ideas a brewin'. Use any medium you like... paint, computer, collage, photography, sculpture... anything. Meg posted some breathtaking and beautiful pictures here, and I also might check some body positive art tumblrs for inspiration. I love this one, this one, and this one. Don't worry about the fact that you may not be an "artist". This isn't about wowing anyone with your skills... its about doing something wonderful that perhaps we find uncomfortable. About spending focused time and energy creating something that represents the body that we have. Its about noticing the lines and curves and shapes that our body makes on a canvas/screen/viewfinder/page etc. Its about creating something beautiful from something that is beautiful. I wonder how much of a journey this particular challenge will be for some... I plan on discovering something about myself through the process. Get goin ladies. Make art of yourself... I can't wait to see what you create.

  11. I love me some wild, bright prints! I am always looking for new fun dresses, being curvier in some parts more than others makes dress buying a bit tough...I love belts on other people, but I am kinda scared of them I l told myself I will try at least a small soft one this year..one step at a time...

  13. i just discovered your blog a few weeks ago and am so thankful for the body love you preach. exactly what i needed, many thanks from berlin, germany!!! just a funfact regarding this post: in germany mumu is a word for vagina :-) so "i have always loved mumus" is perfect in every sense of the word! much love from me to you.

  15. When I think of mumus I think of those floor length ones. But I have to admit if I had that mumu I would wear it. I even have that belt and I am in love with it.
