I AM PROUD OF MY SIZE: MODESTY SCHMODESTY

THE coolest thing happen on Saturday. I was thrift shopping for the first time in months and I stopped for a second and realized something revolutionary. This was the first time I've gone shopping and loved my body at the same time. The experience was phenomenal... each place I went was like a. Brand. New. Store. My options became endless. I've stopped myself from buying countless articles of clothing because I was afraid they wouldn't be flattering/appropriate/acceptable. Fuck flattering. Fuck appropriate. Fuck acceptable. I wear what I want!

Because I am an all or nothing kinda gal I went straight to the lacy see through shirts. Ive wanted to wear them for SO LONG but never had the guts. SO over that. I present to you my "Modesty Schmodesty" outfit. I love it.

It kinds seems reminiscent of something Madonna would have worn way back when. Minus the square dancing skirt of course.
What piece of clothing are you too afraid to wear? Are you gonna challenge yourself and go for broke?
If you do, make sure to link up to Rachele's IAPOMS challenge!!!

  1. That skirt is amazing. I love it. I wish the thirft stores here in Aus were even half as amazing as the ones over there. The ones in my town don't even sell records. Boo hiss.

I also love the top. i used to have a dress/tunic thing very similar when I was in high school and I wore it to death. I love when you find clothes for cheap that become a huge wardrobe staple. But then it's always sad when they die.

So proud of you for biting the bullet and wearing whatever you like. It's wonderful.

  2. Love the whole outfit, every bit is beautiful! I too steer away from lacy shirts or wear them under dresses, but maybe my next outfit post should feature one!? There is such a fine line I myself (not sayin everyone does this!) have to walk when i become proud of my size... I start eating everything! So what 12 cupcakes and 3 glasses of wine? I'm proud! Lol my mentality is a bit warped when it comes to food. Any links/reads on body acceptance + self control?

    1. y'know... eating disorders are not just bulimia or anorexia or overeating. In fact, I was taking a training on mental health first aid and E.D.'s are so common that it ranks up there on the small list of common mental disorders. My point is, that I've had an eating disorder since I was 9. I never realized it until this year. Anyhow, any imbalance that is accentuated by un-awesome choices usually means there is a deeper reason its happening.

I've been working on the inside stuff like self talk, fulfilling activities, support systems etc and it's starting to help. kinda. I still overeat all the time, but I dont hate myself over it anymore and thats progress... right?

  8. You are totally size sexy!

This outfit is incredible. That lace top is amazing and I absolutely love your skirt. Though I think the best thing about your outfit is how you're wearing it. You are absolutely rocking it with that confidence!

  10. So cute! Its so funny because if anyone would have asked me "Beca, can you describe Jes in one word" it would have been "confident" since the first time I met you a million years ago. but seeing you through the eyes of your blog readers, I feel like I am learning so much more about you then I ever did working and friending with you ( I think I just made that word up.) You are beautiful and fun and smart and sassy. I'm proud to know you. And this confidence that I always thought you had, it seems like you are really, really feeling it now, so that's fucking rad.

    1. This blog really has opened many facets of my life ten fold. Not only have I found like minded people(knowing youre not alone is a power of its own), but it has also transferred into my "real" life. People are finally allowed insight into my mind on their time, when they want. This has opened up a LOT of old friends and allowed us to connect on a more personal and special level. I see a lot more evolving from this too. A LOT...I feel so lucky. Thanks Beca, I like you too:)

    2. Oh yeah, and that act of confidence you saw was just that: pretend. I fooled a lot of people for a LONG time. Its funny how sometimes the most "confident" people are the most insecure.
