Breasts were bared, love was shared, lives were altered, and history was made.
We dedicated our night to changing the world, two nipples at a time.
Nearly 70 women met in a stunning fashion studio and took off all of their clothes in the name of body love. They harnessed incredible power through vulnerability and stood in front of a camera knowing full well that their bodies would someday reach millions. Knowing that their bodies would allow women of the world to breathe a sigh of relief. Knowing that their bodies are visual proof that there is no wrong way to physically exist. Rolls, dimples, folds, color spots, and stretch marks... all fucking beautiful.
Some were ecstatic to participate, some were terrified. But all of them did it, and I've had a chance to look at the photos results. I have never seen images like these before. Again, words fail me. The diversity of skin color, nipple shape, belly curvature, thigh spacing... everything is so honest, genuine, phenomenal. Are you picking up what I'm putting down?
Every woman was cheered on by the rest and it never ended. Can you imagine 69 women screaming, clapping and whistling for each other? Goosebumps. We laughed, danced, and talked about nothing and everything all at the same time. Clothes were ditched and we all hugged; boobs to boobs. Together we faced internal demons, and we all left victorious.
The images will be used in a book proposal that will be sent to publishers this October and I'm hoping they will be featured in a future New York Times Bestseller. Though I wouldn't mind if the photos never saw the light of day. It was the journey of making them that was such a transformative experience. BUT they'll be published, and their reach will be a plus.
I'll tell you right now: my favorite part was looking out the back door by the train tracks and seeing a group of naked ladies smoking like it ain't no thang. Charmed life. I gotz it.
Thank you so much Liora for envisioning this shoot and executing it so perfectly. Oh, and thanks for doing it topless. That was basically pretty much amazing. And thank you to every single woman that came and supported self love tonight. Your courage has forever changed my life, and I know it will do the same for the rest of the world.
Kicking ass and taking names has never looked so good.
