// REAL QUICK RECIPE // (FLOWER POT CAKE)

"All the flowers
Would have very extra special powers
They would sit and talk to me for hours
When I'm lonely in a world of my own"

We made a novelty cake at work the other day and had so much fun (and felt the fondant frustration) putting it together.

Here's something I learned:
Terra Cotta coloring: 2 yellow drops to every 2 red drops to every 1 blue drop.
Add brown as needed.

I REALLY hate the taste of fondant, but I found a "buttercream fondant" recipe that is actually delicious.

Buttercream Fondant

1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt ( I like kosher!)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 pounds powdered sugar
Using the paddle attachment, mix the butter, corn syrup, vanilla and salt until fluffy.
Switch to the dough hook and gradually add the powdered sugar until it forms a ball.

I needed the fondant to be a little stiffer for flowers, so I added more sugar but the kitchenaid couldn't handle it... so i took it out and kneaded it until it was smooth.

Add color, knead it in and roll it out on a lightly powdered sugar surface.
Piece of cake.

wanh wanh wanh.
xoxoxo.
