INTUITIVE EATING, HAES, AND BODY TRUST RESOURCES

What exactly is intuitive eating?

I like how succinctly Alissa Rumsey describes it:

Intuitive eating is a way of eating that has nothing to do with diets, meal plans, discipline or willpower. It’s about [...] learning to trust your body again.

It's a foreign concept for some and a complicated process for all, but luckily there are more resources available now than ever before. The concepts found within intuitive eating are also congruent with other healing and important concepts like the Health At Every Size (HAES) approach and body trust so you'll find those recommendations here too.

(Just a note: this directory of 60+ diverse "Eating Disorder and Body Image Providers/Activists" by Three Birds Counseling is amazing and I would recommend checking out everyone on it!)

To get you started, thoughI'd love to share some of my favorite books, websites, podcasts and other resources with you so you can hop to it!

MY TOP FOUR FAVORITE BOOKS

I also recommend:
The Body Is Not An Apology by Sonya Renee Taylor
Body Positive Power by Megan Crabbe
Health at Every Size by Linda Bacon

*Note: There are also mindful Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat book variations specifically for Binge Eating Disorder and Diabetes. (I haven't read them, but they are recommended by professionals I trust!)

I've also written two books. The first, Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls, deconstructs the way we view health. The second, Landwhale, talks about the difficulties of implementing the concepts into daily life.
