“JEANS: AN ALIBI FOR RAPE.”

("short skirts are not an invitation")

Guess what tomorrow is?

WHAT? You don't know about Denim Day?
Well, sit down on this here interweb lap and let me a tell you a story (via wikipedia, of course)...

"Denim Day is a campaign to raise awareness and educate the public about rape and sexual assult.
This movement arose from the outrage that followed an Italian Supreme Court decision in 1998 to overturn a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans. It was argued that she must have had to help her attacker remove her jeans, thus making the act consensual. The Italian Supreme Court stated in its decision “it is a fact of common experience that it is nearly impossible to slip off tight jeans even partly without the active collaboration of the person who is wearing them."

BULL. SHIT.
AMIRIGHT? AMIRIGHT?

Tucson has it's own facebook page (we had an event last Friday) and there was an unfortunately common comment someone left that I would love to share:

AND THAT is what it's all about.
Wear denim tomorrow!
Small changes can bring about big ones.
