There is something pretty spectacular going on in Tucson Arizona... have you heard?
There is an unfortunately high illiteracy rate in Az (<-- that is not spectacular), and my kick ass gal pal Rachel decided to do something about it (<--that is spectacular)... the obvious route was to take pictures of hot chicks. Duh.

Rachel started "Sexy Lady Bookworms", a collaboration with local talent (photographers/MUAs/hair stylists/models) to promote literacy in this hot-as-hell state. The gist is this: take 52 amazing photographs of women within some sort of literary backdrop (read: bookstores). All kinds of women, all kinds of bodies, all kinds of literature, all kinds of awesome. Then, create a playing card deck using one image on each card (the ace of hearts has already been dibs-ed...). Sell, and donate the proceeds to a Tucson Literacy Center.
It's like a calendar only way useful and more fun.
There are many parts about this that I adore, one of which is the variety of models that volunteer to show up at 7:30 am on Saturday mornings. Some are professionals, some are brand new; all have a desire to contribute to the cause. The last few shoots, for example, included a roller derby babe, a bass playing rock star, a swing dancing librarian with a love of zombie fiction, a kitten loving school teacher, a book collecting momma, a library science university student, and the list goes on and on... SUCH an amazing round up of women. And those were just the people that I took pictures of... there are two photographers each session. I have some mad lady love goin' on right here. Enjoy a few views through my lens:
